Q: What is the Local Utility's role?
A: The local utility will still deliver the electricity to your home, organization or business, even if another company supplies it. This delivery service is still regulated by the Maryland Public Service Commission. And, because competition only affects the supply of electricity and not the delivery, all distribution lines will continue to be maintained by your local utility (Allegheny, BGE, Connective...). So you will still call the local utility to handle emergencies and to restore power during outages.
